This month, Jonathan met up with Alan Moore, the man behind the label in his West End studio.
Having just come back from Berlin, where I saw artists occupying huge warehouses for little rent, it's interesting to see lack of space available in Glasgow. Alan works from a modest studio beside the Hidden Lane which makes me wonder why he wouldn't move to bigger surroundings.
"I've looked around and to be honest I'm happy with my one room studio. There is an amazing creative community here and I love being in these exciting surroundings. It's hard to find a more interesting area in Glasgow, as there are so many artists in such close proximity"
We took some time to talk through the last collection from Ten30 and it's clear to see this energy in the designs. Concentrating on bright jewel tones and reptilian-style prints, I can see Alan has an interest in experimenting with design. I am reminded of Proenza Schouler and Mulberry in the basis of the designs, but these stand out for their differences too.
"The thing about being based in Glasgow is I can take my time, experiment and create clothing which doesn't have a direct route to market. I'm growing creatively and trying to make beautiful clothes in the process."
Ten30 recently took part in The Dressing Room - a pop-up styling event organised with Welcome Home and Chouchou Couture. I snapped a few of my favourite Ten30 shift dresses with millinery by Oui Designs.
Alan is currently working on his next collection and redeveloping Ten30.co.uk to include online sales. Form an orderly queue.
