This marks the first time I've photographed a child's style. There's a difference between asking an adult for a photo, and approaching a parent to ask if I can shoot their kid. Needlesstosay, I spotted Sallu's attitude & charisma in Glasgow while watching at a street performer. When I went to take a photograph, he lit up without a flinch. If only we retained this innocent confidence into adulthood.

Photographing street style for nearly 3 years my eye is nearly always drawn to the exterior, but increasingly I'm becoming drawn to style in other areas. In the Autumn of 2011 I began a new project 'Superior Interior', looking into style beyond the street.

This month, I look at Varda Ducovny, an author and ex-New Yorker who lives in Paris. What I love about Varda is her style goes so much further than clothes, possessions and the interior design of her home - with her, style is in the story. Recounting times spent singing in downtown New York, discussing politics or her travels across the world, I discovered that there's always a twist to the tale.

From a sartorial perspective, one of the best things about London is the vivaciousness of its inhabitants. In a city where no-one is from London yet we are all 'Londoners', the continuous contrast in style as you walk, bike and bus from zone to zone, area to area, street to street.

I spotted this girl on my favourite street (see previous posts from May, June, July and September) close to my flat in Hackney. I love the ''biker girl" with the gold chain against her soft and innocent face.

Wherever I travel, I love to pick up vintage photographs in the local thrift stores. Whether it's a staged Victorian portrait or a family snapshot you can tell a lot about society, culture and style in those pictures. As Les Garçons de Glasgow has it's third Christmas, I've gone through all the vintage photos collected from across the world. Looking beyond the clothing and interesting locations, the one remaining quality is the relationships that are etched in paper. Family, friends and everything in between.

I spotted Jeremy whilst sitting in a cafe on Rue Oberkampf. There are few times where I feel the need to cut the conversation, get up and run to get a photograph but Jeremy was one of those. First I saw the incredible beard beside a shaved head, next the round shouldered shearing jacket over denim, but it was the leopard slippers that sealed the deal. One of the things that makes street style photography so special for me is the element of surprise. After literally a day of walking around Paris and getting very little reward, I just happened to be in Montmartre walking to Metro Anver and a courtyard door opened. Out onto the busy street walked Joys who, despite struggling with a pram looked effortlessly chic in her trench and felt hat. Add an orange and we've got street style magic.

Paris is the city of light, the global capital of the fashion industry and the birthplace of chic. What it often lacks in comparison to a city like London, is that youthful experimentation which pushes the style envelope. After walking the length and breadth of Paris yesterday (literally walking from 10am until 5pm), I have to admit I was disappointed. I saw only five people worthy of taking a photo. One of them was Paloma.

In Paris you rarely see bright colours or dyed hair so I could see Paloma from about four blocks away. Usually I'm not attracted to this Harajuku influenced style but anything that goes against the grain tends to capture my attention. As I took her photo, I heard some men shouting something along the lines of "Salut, c'est Lady Gaga!". Guessing that they weren't mistaking me for the singer, I wondered how much verbal abuse people like Paloma get in cities which aren't used to people breaking the style mold. I give major kudos to those who believe in their personal style and dress with such conviction.

On one of the coldest days in Paris this Winter I spotted Arthemiss, a stylist based in Le Marais. When asking her if she spoke English 'en Français', she replied no and then held a full conversation in my native tongue. In October 2009, two Glaswegian boys began to photograph the people and places that inspired them. We started this blog as a testament to the city and a reaction to blogs from culture capitals around the world: New York, London, Paris to name a few. Since then, Les Garçons de Glasgow has been nominated for a Scottish Fashion Award, listed as Vogue.com's One to Watch, placed in The List's Hot 100 and received a pile of press we're very proud of.

This October Les Garçons de Glasgow reached the terrible twos. In the past year so many wonderful things have happened for us both, mapped out by our photos of style. Although we missed our official birthday due to busy schedules, we've now pulled out a selection of our favourite images and written why this year has been special for each of us.

Jonathan's Highlights

Although it's not very poetic, I feel a list would be the most effective way of picking my highlights as there is just so many. I may forget a couple of things but here goes...creating exciting collaborations with Ted Baker, Fashion Rocks, Folli Follie, relaunching W2 Boutique with a campaign & soiree, becoming a brand ambassador for Buchanan Galleries, created a sell-out tshirt range, co-founded Bold Souls style pop-up, attending fashion weeks in Paris and London, filming my first fashion film for Hilary Laing, receiving a nomination at the Scottish Fashion Awards, my numerous visits to London to stay with Daniel & photograph their sartorial presence, going behind the scenes at Adam Kimmel, relaunching Monday's at The Buff Club with a campaign & party & styling William Chambers' Nightwalk show.

One thing I'll never forget about 2011 is embarking on my biggest street photography challenge to date in a collaborative project with Cruise. Visiting 7 cities across the UK I photographed over 400 people for an installation across every Cruise Store. I will always be proud of the results.

Finally as summer of 2011 drew to a close, I moved to Paris to work on a new project. To document my time here, I set up a brother-blog Another Garçon and began to document style behind the streets in a series of portraits called 'Superior Interior'. Sometimes I wonder how so much was crammed into such a speedy year.

Daniel's Highlights

It’s been nearly a year living in London. A year of many, many different things. A year of growth both personally and professionally. A year of exploring, neighbourhoods from Clapton to Clapham from Hackney to Hampsted and everything in between.

I love London especially the architecture and the frequent juxtaposition of council estates with million pound private flats.From a street style perspective London continues to shock, amaze and ultimately inspire me sartorially.

Capturing this is an exciting prospect because it can be around any corner at any moment, hence the importance of being equipped at all times. I love that Londoners continue to push the mark, take the look to the extreme and wear it with confidence. This year alone I’ve seen a girl wearing a gimp mask and another covered head to toe in PVC paired incongruously with a Chanel handbag. I guess, that’s just London.

Here's to the next 2 years!

On few weeks ago I met up with an old Glasgow University friend to attend 'Grayson Perry Late' as part of the current exhibition Grayson Perry: The Tomb Of The Unknown Craftsman.

With no camera or knowledge of what the evening would hold, we approached the iconic building on Great Russel Street and began to feel electricity in the air. Inside the place was jumping.

The British Museum in itself is breathtaking, both day and night, but on this night there was something extra special. I owe a thank you to Ellen from the University of Arts London for lending me her camera in trust and helping me document this wonderful evening.

It's nights like this which make the high rent, little space and ever increasing transport Oyster fees - yet never disappearing tube delays - worth living in London.

The exhibition, sponsored by Louis Vuitton, runs until February 2012 at The British Museum.

Monday evenings, especially as the nights are getting darker and the days shorter, are usually reserved for the mundane: food shopping, gym going, second round of Sunday paper reading, eating,and eventually sleeping. Pretty standard and uneventful. On Monday this was turned upside down as I arrived at The Modern Pantry in Farringdon for the private viewing of Hormazd Narielwalla’s exhibiton ‘Fairy-God, Fashion Mother’.

Diane Pernet, Narielwalla's muse and the force behind A Shaded View On Fashion, was flown over from Paris for the event, and I had the pleasure of joining them both for dinner at da Polpo in Covent Garden, along with 10 other close friends and colleagues, following the viewing. It was a special, intimate, and memorable evening.

Having lived in London since January I've realised both how much I love this city, and equally, how much I love leaving this city. Leaving can trigger a number of conflicting feelings. For me, I realise how much I've grown from living here only when I leave. It's very similar to how my 'Scottish identity' and fondness for Glasgow truly kicked in when I was living in. Perhaps you need a certain distance to appreciate your everyday surroundings. This year I've been luckily enough to break away from London during recent trips to Valencia in April, Barcelona in June and, more recently, Amsterdam.

Amsterdam inspired, enthralled, shocked and entertained me. I loved their bike culture, the fact that children have their own bike windshield, the bike congestion at every junction and sporadic bike accidents, which in truth are mild compared to London's deadly Dalston Junction. I really enjoyed walking, or cycling, everywhere and not having to take at least a bus, Overground or Underground to go anywhere. I adored the side streets peppered with coffee shops and hidden art galleries, and the massive green space that is Vondelpark

As with my photographs from Berlin in December, I wanted the Amsterdam photos to give a similar insight and to showcase the city's beauty (and gritty undertones). Over the coming days the photographs will focus more on Amsterdam's street style.

The streets of Paris are a constant source of inspiration. There's the obvious: Eiffel Tower, Sacré Coeur and Colonne de Juillet. Then there's the subtle: the old washed-out store signs painted above doorways, the intricate brass doorknobs and the variety of people who weave around the city in their daily life.

Over the past few weeks, I've noticed more bright prints and patterns than I usually do. Perhaps the unusually good weather has something to do with it or maybe Parisiennes are just embracing the new season ahead of the curve. Whatever it is, it's been a feast for my eyes.

Paris may be known for it's fashion, but on the street colour tends to be subdued and style is nearly always 'chic'. So, when someone isn't sticking to this sartorial uniform, they seem far more visible. I spotted Magda and Agnieszka, two Polish students outside a coffee shop at Bastille. Fairy-God, Fashion-Mother - Hormazd Narielwalla & Diane Pernet

Back in April, I wrote about the unique work of LCF PhD candidate and Savile Row's Dege & Skinner's artist in residence Hormazd Narielwalla. The concept of his artistic quest is to interpret and communicate patterns as abstract shapes of the human form; using this unique theme in his work he narrates untold tailoring stories.

Narielwalla and I met up last weekend to discuss his art at a Hampstead institution The Louis Patisserie before a leisurely walk through Hampstead Heath.

Narielwalla’s ‘Fairy-God, Fashion-Mother’ - a series of paper collages inspired by American-born, Paris-based fashion curator, blogger and journalist Diane Pernet - is coming to London following his exhibition in Athens. His work will be showcased in London at The Modern Pantry from 8th November 2011 till 7th January.

Jim Haynes is an institution. Hosting 'Sunday Dinners' every week for the last 30 years in his Paris atelier, he has welcomed hundreds of attendees including Chloe Sevigny, Yoko Ono and David Bowie to his atelier.

I am proud and honoured that my first exhibition in Paris will be at his atelier. This will continue his long history of supporting the arts in Scotland, co-founding the Traverse Theatre and setting up the UK's first paperback bookshop in Edinburgh.

After photographing thousands of people throughout Europe, I began to notice a conversation emerges through the lens, between people who've never event met. Hampstead Heath Sundays - NW3, London

There is no other place in London during autumn quite like Hampstead Heath. The vibrant colours, the golden oranges and browns and that fresh, crisp, air all around. When I had my Parisian friend Lauren staying with me a few weekends ago I knew that we should escape the East and head north to Hampstead and Highgate. During our walk we bumped into this girl, a Vietnamese student visiting London. After I took her photograph Lauren and I turned around to find her in a circle surrounded by her fellow students who wanted to 'get in on the act'.

Outside the Balmain show this season, Susie Lau blogger of Style Bubble got more attention from the paparazzi and street stylers than any other individual. It was quite astonishing.

There were a few people who's style really stood out for me during my ventures across the UK for the Cruise Street Style Project. Spirit of Fashion Pop Up: Princes Square, Glasgow

My continual frustration with Scotland, is that the most exciting creative events and projects rarely migrate north of the border. It's for that reason that I was so excited about the Spirit of Fashion pop up store in Princes Square. When a friend told me of the event, it instantly struck me as the kind of venture that perfectly merges fresh creative talent with commercial viability.

This week the store will be showcasing (and selling!) work from three award winning designers: Rachael Barrett, Carolyn Massey and Matthew Miller. Sadly, I'm not in Glasgow-town so missed out on all the fun of the opening night on Thursday evening. Martin Baker took my place and snapped some style as well as sending me some sneaky shots of the product - that white Matthew Miller shirt will be mine!

The store will be open for one week only in the ground floor of Princes Square, Glasgow.

Bold Souls: November Double Whammy

It's hard to believe Bold Souls has been a firm fixture of the Scottish creative scene for nearly 2 years now. Since its introduction, it's grown to become one of the leading resources for independent design - filled with vintage finds, hand-crafted jewellery, ethical fashion and home baked treats. There is little chance of leaving without something utterly unique and inspiring - a big reason why I love being involved.

Due to my latest ventures in Paris, I missed the last event but got honorary Garçon Martin Baker to take my place. He managed to capture of spirit of the day while also taking some beautiful shots down by the Clyde.

Sticking to it's new home in The Arches Cafe Bar, Bold Souls is back twice in November in the run up to Xmas. Get your tickets for the next event on Sat November 5th here which will be filled with new design talent. If you're the organised type, you may also like to RSVP to their next event on November 26th.

Ted Baker: It's Rutting Season

Yesterday Jonathan spent the day at Ted Baker. Armed with a trusty iPad, he Instagram-ed the day away as men, woman and children picking out their favourite Ted Baker looks and to get snapped for the "Rutting Season" project.

Ted Baker Rutting Project

With the excitement of fashion week dying down, I needed something to give a little boost in order to prevent post-Paris-depression. Thankfully there's an exciting project up my sleeve I've been dying to announce.

We're teaming up with Ted Baker to capture style in Glasgow for their AW11 campaign. With this season's theme being "rutting" (google it), we want you to come along, pick out your best Ted outfit and strike a pose. The whole "rutting" thing basically translates to you winning £500 worth of Ted's designer threads if your look is voted the best.

As we're always democratic, it won't be down to us to decide who the best dresser is. All photos will be uploaded to Facebook and voted on by the general public (read: your mum, auntie and mates) with the winner crowned on Monday 10th October. This project will be different from others we've done: this time I won't be using my camera to snap the shots. Yes, that's right - we're moving right into the 21st century by using an iPad2 with Instagram.

I'd seen fellow blogger Amelie at many of the shows in Paris but never managed to get a shot until the last day. On style alone I'd have sworn she was a London girl but it turns out she's French.
